Mission Statement
Maple Hills PTA Board of Directors will lead the membership to an active and fulfilling year with increased communication, student enrichment, and parental participation.
Goals for 2011-2012
1. Educate the Maple Hills Community on what today's PTA does.
Maple Hills PTA holds a “New Family Orientation” event in August before school starts. We mail out a packet to each new family with an invitation to our event. We provide a tour of the school, as well as an overview of what the PTA does – both here at Maple Hills, district wide and nationally. We provide flyers and take home information as well (sample attached “Nuts & Bolts).
We assemble First Day Packets at the beginning of the school year, which are sent out the 2nd week of school with all of the information about PTA programs, volunteer opportunities and all of the events the PTA supports during the school year. We also include our flyer “What Does the Maple Hills PTA Do?” to give more clarification.
The PTA Board has a display set up at Curriculum Night at school so that we can meet and greet families and answer question about PTA programs and encourage membership.
2. Improve membership attendance at General Membership Meetings, thereby increasing communication within the PTA.
The PTA Board of Directors promotes our (3) General Membership meetings by putting announcements well in advance in our Monthly Newsletter. We have Door Prize drawings at each meeting as well as chocolate on every table. We also book Guest speakers to give brief presentations at each meeting. Because of these efforts our meeting attendance has increased this year.
The PTA also had a large 24 x 72” Full Color Banner made and hung in the front entrance of the school which says “Maple Hills PTA Reach for the Stars” as a further reminder to join PTA and participate in our programs and attend meetings.
3. Raise sufficient funds at our April 2012 auction to fully fund our PTA's programs and events for the following two years.
The PTA starts promoting the Auction in the Spring of 2011 by securing the venue, auctioneer and reserving the date on the calendar. We send out flyers to the community to get people excited about the upcoming event "next year" and also to encourage procurement.
We have a dedicated committee, which includes (2) Auction Chairs who are part of the Board of Directors who work on the auction throughout the summer and school year leading up to the date of the event.
